Here is my latest interview from this morning (Thursday 8/4) with Dale Pinkert of TradeGateHub. We covered a lot of ground including the Fed, the potential for a pullback, the melt-up, the bond market, oil and precious metals.
June was a major bottom in the bond market similar to 2014 & 2018.Bonds are set up for a big, steep rally that takes the 10yr to 0% & lower & the 30yr to 1/4%-1/2% next year.A global deflationary bust & historic financial crisis is coming in 2023.Bonds likely correct here first.
Equity markets had a pretty good week as investors interpreted Powell's comments to mean a pivot is not far away.Investors may have gotten a bit ahead of themselves on the whole inflation narrative & policy pivot, particularly if oil heads back over $100 & bonds sell off next wk.
I did an interview with Rob Kientz of Gold Silver Pros LLC yesterday that provides my current thinking. We covered the Fed, the economy & the markets. The balance of this year will certainly be interesting. Enjoy.
Investors are parsing Powell's words to determine if he is getting close to a pivot. What I heard yesterday was a continued focus on inflation & still a lack of awareness of the deep recession that's coming.I suspect that will change between now & the Sept meeting as data worsens.
No matter what the Fed decides today(75 or 100bps)the market is poised for a move higher to S&P 4150-4200 & then maybe a sharp, short pullback to 3800 before a much bigger, more sustainable rally to 6000 gets underway. The lows are in.The market not likely to undercut the June lows
